Want to immediately improve your law firm’s cultur Want to immediately improve your law firm’s culture? Try banning the word “busy.”

In the legal profession, “I’m so busy” has become our default, automatic response when someone asks how we’re doing. But “busy” doesn’t invite real reflection, nor does it build meaningful connection with our colleagues.
What if, instead of hiding behind “busy,” we were authentic?

“I’m feeling a bit stressed right now because I have a trial coming up and an evidence issue I’m working through.”

That small shift opens the door for real empathy, collaboration, and actual support.

I’m excited to dive deeper into this topic next week! Join me and my incredible fellow panelists at the Canadian Legal Summit on Wednesday, October 14th.

We’ll be speaking in the Small & Medium Law Firm stream about Talent Management. (Spoiler: Firm culture is a huge part of why people stay!)

Hope to see you there!
