SWL Clients

At SWL, we typically work with
five different types of clients:

The start-up.

We love to get in on the ground level! Our team has valuable experience working with companies that are in the early stages of their formation and growth. They have a vision – and they’re also smart enough to acknowledge where they can use some outside expertise. Oftentimes, these clients don’t just want to do things well; they want to set the bar on how a modern company treats its people.

Established organizations.

These businesses might be five years old or five decades old, and during that time, they’ve witnessed changes in the workforce, social climate, and what customers demand. They see potential risks and opportunities in the handling of issues like gender-free bathrooms, inclusive hiring practices, and innovative compensation practices  – and they can use some guidance in getting ahead and getting things right. We work directly with executives, HR, and general counsel to ensure policies, contracts, and procedures are in-step with modern expectations and legal standards.

Those in the throes
of a crisis.

It’s happened and it’s best to be blunt about it: “it” has hit the fan.  When an organization is facing a significant workplace or labour law litigation, it’s time to bring in the experts. We provide thorough and fair counsel, investigations, interviews, and negotiations. And if it comes to it, commanding and effective courtroom representation.

Unionized Workplaces.

Whether they’re in talks of forming or a long-established entity, SWL works with unionized employers to develop a bargaining strategy, respond to union grievances, win at grievance arbitration, and effectively manage relations with the union.

Employees and Freelancers.

SWL works with individual employees and freelancers to help them through the life cycle of their work relationship, from signing the contract, to difficulties in the workplace, to termination. We are there for you.

Client Testimonials.
TH, Environmental Assessment Business Owner
"You were awesome to deal with. You made what was a stressful situation really easy to deal with and you're really good at your job. We wish you nothing but success with all your future business."
BG, Human Resources Director, Non-Profit Sector
"Samantha was my rock during a very difficult claim and settlement negotiation."
GM, Human Resources Director, Municipality
"Samantha connected with our employees like no lawyer we’ve had before. She was able to guide them through the litigation process and make everyone comfortable."
KR, Wrongful Dismissal Claim
"You acted with kindness rarely seen and beyond value. Thank you for representing me fiercely, listening to all the facts, challenging me when it was needed, and being great at what you do."
CR, Wrongful Dismissal Claim
"Given how difficult it can be to face a wrongful dismissal from your employment, there is no one I would rather have in my corner than Samantha. From the beginning, Samantha made herself available on a moment’s notice, provided a thoughtful review of my employment contract, answered my questions with a clear understanding of the law, and was a fierce advocate in support of my position when negotiating with opposing counsel. In addition to the legal issues involved in my file, Samantha provided employment related resources when it came time to look for a new position, and has even become a sounding board in my decision to accept future employment opportunities. I really appreciated all of Samantha’s hard work, and believe that I came out the other end as well as I did, because of Samantha."
KB, Wrongful Dismissal Claim
"After difficult negotiations with a less than responsive employer, I've finally received my (much improved) severance package. Seabrook Workplace Law was excellent throughout the entire process. They did such a great job - from reviewing and determining exactly what I was entitled to in preparation for a counter offer to following up and pushing for answers and responses, they demonstrated over and over again that they really knew their stuff and were not only willing, but very skilled at advocating on my behalf. They were a pleasure to deal with and I really could not have asked for better representation. I would highly recommend them."
